A soft, delicate fern with fan-shaped, cool-green leaflets held together by dark, wiry stems. Place in a shady, moist, and well-drained site. Thrives best in humusy soil. Appreciates humidity.  'Mairisii' is a cold-hardy variety; evergreen in mild winter climates.
