A small deciduous tree with a pyramidal, round form. Leaves are broad and dark green. In late winter and early spring, slightly fragrant flowers cover the branches before leaf-out. Flowers are large, star-shaped and white, often tinged pink. Seedy, cone-like fruits follow. Attracts birds.
