An evergreen shrub with sprawling, spreading branches. Strongly aromatic leaves are oval, lobed on the edges, glossy, and deep green. Clusters of spring flowers are deep red. Summer berries are red-orange to yellow. Attracts birds, especially hummingbirds. Native to California.
