Blue Oak, White Oak
A large, slow-growing deciduous tree with a variable form and spreading, contorted, arching branches. Bark becomes checkered and light gray with age. Blue-green to dull green leaves are leathery and oval with shallow, wavy lobes. Fall foliage color is variable and may be yellow-orange or dull brown. Inconspicuous female flowers and male catkins yield acorns. Native to California. Provides habitat and food for numerous animal species.
