A California-native deciduous shrub that forms a thorny thicket of roses. Fragrant flowers are delicate and lovely. Petals are creamy-pink and stamens are pastel yellow. Blooms from spring through summer. Beneficial for wildlife, birds, and very popular with all sorts of pollinators. Leaflets are green with a bluish-hue and have serrated edges. Stems and midribs are laden with prickles and thorns. Tolerates clay soils. Spreads by rhizomes. Rose hips are edible, medicinal, and make a delicious tea.
